Last year we met the fine folks at Panera Bread! Their Cruise nights will be starting soon!
January Meeting
By Bob Lothrop
Before we began the meeting, members enjoyed a little social, consisting of Pizza, Fires and Soda. Twenty-six of us had a great time eating and chatting, but all too soon we had to take up the issues at hand.
Treasurers Report: Accepted as read. Del reported that so far 37 members have rejoined the club for 2010, and that number grows daily. The dues are $15.00 for the year to activate your 2010 membership.
Old Business: Louise Trottier read a letter from Sister Theresa and Del read one from the Salvation Army, both thanking us for our generous charitable donations.
New Business: Phil is designing a flyer for the Club’s 2010 Cruise-ins, acknowledging the sponsors. For the website, Phil is looking to incorporate more of the members’ experiences and the shows they attend. As a personal touch, he hopes members will tell of the “uh-huh” moment when they got interested in ‘Cruising.”
Del thanked Phil for his enthusiasm in updating the Club’s Internet Website.
Del explained that this year’s “Downtown Main Street Biddeford” Club Auto Show is tentatively scheduled for August 15th. Bob is looking into the Dash Plaques and Fritz is checking out T-Shirts.
Del reported that Renald Cote will be the DJ supplying the notes for the club activities in 2010.
Mac reported that “Your Country Store” in Hollis will be hosting Cruise-ins this year, probably on the 4th Saturday from May through September and a finale on October 16th. Watch the monthly newsletter Events Calendar. It is going to be a busy and fun season.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00pm. Don’t forget the next one! That’s Sunday, February 14th at 6:30pm. You know, at TJ’s Pizza in Biddeford.

Rod Barons to Guide Fellow Gearheads through the Dreaded Winter!
Every once in a while you need a hero. And every once in a while you find one! When it came time for Ducky to find a young, energetic young man to lead us into the gluttonous revelry that is the Mid-Winter Blues Get-Together at Newick’s, he needed only to look at the Rod Barons and that striking young lad from Berwick, Tim Dube, and he knew he had found his man. Aye, Tim is a leader of some note. Look how he tackled his first Challenge!
“You are invited to the Annual Newick’s Winter Get-Together at Newick’s Restaurant in Dover, N.H. on Saturday, Feb. 13th at 6:00pm.
“John Duckworth has graciously passed the torch to the Rod Barons after 12 years of dedication. When you arrive just tell the hostess that you are with the Rod Barons’ party. Bring your Valentine and any pictures of new projects. If your club has any raffles or promotions, please bring them as well. There will be a 50/50 raffle with all proceeds going to the winner. Please bring any fliers of upcoming events.
“This is a great chance to see old friends after a long winter season. In the past there has been 100+ people attending and we hope to make it even bigger. If you have any questions please call Tim Dube at 207 698-1911 or email to tdube@sad60.k12.me.us.”
Thanks, Tim
No, Tim, ‘tis we who thank you! See you on the 13th!
The Club
We just received word that Rick Chretien’s step-father passed away earlier this month. Our condolences go out to you, Rick.
Also, Lorraine Chretien underwent surgery last Friday. She’s home now, but may be recuperating as much a six weeks. Stick with it, girl! We’re all thing about you!

Checkin’ on the Cruise-Ins
I stopped by Your Country Store last week, just to see how things were going. Turns out, I just missed Paul Daney by ten minutes. He had mentioned he’d approach the town regarding expanded parking for the cruise nite. Tom & Marion and Brenda are as anxious as we are to get these things going.
Ditto for Sonny’s store in Lyman. Bill just had some bodywork done to his own body, so he was taking a little time off. I caught him later, though, and we have the dates to Sonny’s. They kick off in May and they’ll be on opposite Monday nights from Shapleigh. Same-same like before.
But the big one to start the year off is Wells “First of the Season” Spring Car Show, Messiah Christian Church, 2700 Post Road (Route 1), Wells, ME. This is on Saturday, May 1st. Remember their first show last year? Great job! We’ll be there!
